Incredibly knowledgeable guide
I’ve already been on two tours in Istanbul, but this walking tour was my favorite. Murat knew everything about the Harem! All the titles of the different women, the eunuchs’ responsibilities, all about the famous wife Roxelana… He answered every question that came to mind and had something to say about every room we entered. Five stars!
We really enjoyed the Topkapi Harem Tour
Loved visiting the Harem, and really appreciated Ahmed teaching us about the Ottoman Empire and Harem life. Honestly, I never realized it was so political! It almost sounded like a mean girls group at high school haha. We also loved the skip-the-line tickets - we entered the Harem immediately, thank God because the line was pretty long.

These eunuchs were most often slaves from other nations, such as sub-Saharan Africa, the Balkans, and the Caucasus. However, eunuchs could rise to power; the Chief Black Eunuch was an important figure, overseeing the Harem and playing a key role in palace administration and intelligence.
